Chess.com and Lichess. Enter your public username on either platform and chessdesk fetches your most recent games directly from their public APIs.

chessdesk has six free tools, all running in your browser with no account: a game review at /game-review, an analysis board at /analysis-board, a next move finder at /next-move, an opening repertoire builder at /opening-repertoire-builder, chess puzzles at /chess-puzzles, and an Elo calculator at /chess-elo-calculator.

They are move classification symbols. !! marks a brilliant move and ?? marks a blunder, with !, ?, !? and ?! for the grades in between. A full breakdown of every symbol and how the game review assigns them is in the move classifications guide at /chess-move-classifications.

No. Every free tool works without an account and without signing in. You only need an account if you want to save studies and games across sessions.

Your email address, your password as a salted hash, the studies and games you choose to save, and basic account metadata such as when you signed up. We never store your plain-text password.

Yes. You can connect Lichess through the optional OAuth import to fetch your games on your behalf. You can disconnect Lichess at any time from your settings, which removes the stored token.

Email [email protected] and we will delete your account along with the studies, saved games, and other data associated with it, then confirm once it is done.

Each move is scored from how much winning chance it gave up, using the same win-percentage model as Lichess and Chess.com. The per-game number is a blend of a volatility-weighted mean and a harmonic mean, so a single blunder weighs realistically instead of being diluted by easy moves.

A brilliant move is a sound sacrifice: you give up real material, the move is the engine's best or near-best, and your position stays winning or equal. It does not need to be the only move that holds.
